Fall Decorating Trends!

How about something different to add a special touch this Fall? Miniature lights in the shape and
colors of fall leaves around the fireplace mantle or doorway. Yellow and orange twinkle lights in
the windows. Cozy throws in the rich warm colors of the season.

Just as you bring spring and summer into your home with slipcovers and silk flowers,  do the same for Fall. Take off the slipcovers and put away the flowers! If your furniture is still "summery", try neutral suede cloth slipcovers  Add twigs and branches with leaves dried on them in arrangements of fall flowers. Seed pods, interesting dried goodies from the woods, and your own existing florals can make very stunning arrangements. After we slide into the Thanksgiving to Christmas Season, the pods and branches can be spray painted in metallics for a wonderful Holiday effect. Artificial fruit for Fall turns glitzy for Christmas with silver or gold glitter. Create a big bowlful for your table! Invest in some Fall motif table runners and place mats. Use these under your lamps and treasures on your coffee tables and side tables. If the colors look good in Nature, they will look good inside! This applies to colors, shapes, and groupings of things. Pumpkins around a lamppost on a leaf covered lawn translate into a pumpkin assortment with leaves around a lamp or candle stand.
Place pots of colorful Mums around a fireplace or other eye catching spot.

Think warm rich colors and get creative!

Speaking of rich colors, have you noticed the trend towards jewel tones and warm browns?
Towards luxurious fabrics like suede, velvet, chenille, soft leather, and brushed fabrics? They are
out there in great abundance! Regal shades of reds, blues, greens, purples, and these wonderful
rich browns! Intricate patterns with metallic touches, fringes, beads, embroidery, Oriental and
Mid-Eastern touches grace many, many home accessories.

Since these fit so well into a Fall decor scheme, go get a cup of coffee, sit down and get comfortable. Then take a deep breath, relax, think Fall Decor and get ready to shop! Be creative! You can do this!
Be sure to light a cinnamon or pumpkin pie scented candle and get into the mood!

Fall is such a wonderful time of the year. Don't waste it! Enjoy it right up until the snow starts to fly! Decorate with these wonderful colors until the Holidays, then after Holiday decor is put away, use the warm colors until Spring moves you to change the scheme.
